A few minutes meeting with Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy in Janata Darshan on Saturday helped a 30-year-old techie to register her flat on which she had invested her life’s earnings.

Vandana Kukreja, a software engineer at IBM, hails from Madhya Pradesh and resides at Kaverappa Layout in Marathahalli. She purchased a flat from VKC builders owned by Vijay Kumar Chaurasia at Panathur by making full payment of Rs 65 lakh in January.

But the builder kept postponing the registration dates and avoided her calls from August 28.

Vandana, after running from pillar to post, finally decided to attend the CM’s janata darshan and shared her grievance on Saturday.

Kumaraswamy instructed the city police commissioner to take up the matter seriously and do the needful.

Following that a complaint was filed in the Marathahalli police station. After verifying her documents, police summoned the builder and instructed him to register the flat in her name.

DCP (Whitefield) Abdul Ahad said an FIR was lodged against the builder Chaurasia based on Vandana’s complaint.

Appearing before the investigating official after a summons, the builder said he avoided Vandana because he pledged her flat to get himself out of the financial trouble.

On Monday, police accompanied Vandana and Charasia to sub-register office and ensured the property was registered in the techie’s name.

Vandana later met chief minister Kumaraswamy and expressed her gratitude. She told the media that she had invested her entire earnings on the flat and the Chief Minister and the police came to her rescue.

Kumaraswamy lauded the police who closed the complaint in 24 hours.
