He likes experimenting with shades of grey and has no qualms about playing roles which are negative. Actor Vasishta N Simha, who has been noticed for his roles in many a project, is back with a bang.

In a tete-a-tete with Tini Sara Anien, he talks about his latest projects and how he is juggling between them.

How many projects do you have in your kitty now?

I have many movies in the pipeline. Some that I would like to name include ‘Gandu Yendare Gandu’, which stars Ganesh and is directed by Ramesh Aravind. The shoot of the film is done. Another interesting project is ‘Matthe Baa Upendra Inthi Ninna Prema’, which will star Upendra, Prema and Sruthi Hariharan.

‘Dayavittu Gamanisi’, a movie by Rohit Padaki, is a multi-starrer where I am paired with Sangeetha Bhat. Also, I will be seen in ‘Mufti’ (working title), where Sriimurali and Shivarajkumar will be seen playing prominent roles.

How does it feel to be on your toes?

This is what I have been waiting for. It is my dream come true, to be busy and shuttling between shoots. Earlier, I would be done with the shoot of a project and then I would wait for the film to come out. But now it feels nice to be listening to scripts, being busy reading lines and enacting scenes.

Your roles in the movies are...

All the movies are different. They all come under different genres. ‘Gandu Yendare Gandu’ is a comical entertainer and ‘Matthe Baa Upendra...’ is very different again. In ‘Mufti’, I am playing a very challenging role, as it is a very integrated plot.

I play negative roles in all the movies, apart from ‘Dayavittu Gamanisi’, which has a romantic plot and I play one of the leads in it. There are four stories in this movie of which one is mine and this is the first time that I will be doing a love story.

How different are the looks in each movie?

In ‘Gandu Yendare Gandu’, I play a cop and it will be the first time that I will be seen without a beard. In ‘Matthe Baa Upendra...’, I don an ethnic look. For ‘Mufti’, my look is yet to be decided and in ‘Dayavittu Gamanisi’, I am playing a normal, random guy.

Are you more excited or nervous?

I am always pumped up with energy and I’m very excited. I was always the local fanboy and I am happy that I am getting to act with varied actors of great calibre.

How is it to act with different actors from the industry?

In ‘Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu’, I acted with Anant Nag. I was nervous and by the time I reached the shoot, I was even more nervous. It has been a humbling experience and I have learnt a lot from everyone in the industry. The experiences are very different and very positive.

Aren’t you afraid that you will be typecast?

If people call me an anti-hero, I’m all game for it. But if they call me a villain, I don’t think I will be able to take it. I don’t want to be typecast but I am very comfortable doing shades of grey. I always like adding my own tinge to every role so that my performance stands apart.
