Television actor Arjun Bijlani may have turned host of a travel-based reality show but he believes that era of fiction shows can never be over. Seen only in daily soaps so far, Arjun gave a nod to Road Diaries as he wanted to experiment.
“I wanted to try something different and am sure being a host will help me connect with audiences in a better way,” he says.
As a host of Road Diaries, Arjun is travelling with five contestants to different places in the country and keeping a check on their progress. Arjun, who became a popular face on the small screen with his role as Mayank in television show Miley Jab Hum Tum, stepped into the glamour world as a model and has also been seen in several ads and music videos. But his first break as an actor came through in Remix and turned him into a household name with Left Right Left.
Despite being part of the television industry Arjun isn’t someone who has “watched a lot of shows which are currently on air. But I believe that there will always be all kinds of shows – good, average and bad. But since I don’t watch too much television, I don’t have any favourites either,” he shares. Like his other co-stars, Arjun too is getting offers for film and the actor does not mind the shift. He says, “I think, television actors moving to films is a positive sign.... and of course, I would love to work in films. I don’t want to speak about any offer till everything is finalised.”
Having studied commerce, its more than natural for Arjun to say that if he had not become an actor, he would have been a entrepreneur. For him, that aim is still alive even now. “If not an actor, I would probably have been a businessman. In fact, I am already planning to be one in the near future,” he says.
Joining the league of many celebrities, the 30-year-old actor plans to open up a restaurant. “I would love to have my own restaurant or a chain of hotels. But as of now, I enjoy being an actor and now a host,” Arjun smiles.
Born and brought up in Mumbai, Arjun has been to Delhi only few times but has a special love for the City for its food. “I have been to Delhi twice or thrice and I really love the vibrancy of the City. The people are really warm and vivacious and the food is is simply amazing. I also enjoy clubbing in Delhi.”
