Sporting a black and white dress, Bollywood actress Genelia D’Souza was at her cheerful best when she was in the City recently to launch a smart phone. Metrolife caught up with this young star and asked her to share her experiences in the City and what has been happening in her life.

Ask the actress how technologically aware she is, and she says, “I’m not terrible or fabulous at technology. I love the fact that all sorts of information is available on the internet and the phone. I wish I was a technology-savvy person but I’m happy just being a phone junkie.”

As a college student, this actress was keenly interested in sports. She follows sports closely even now. “Ritesh has just bought a team — the ‘Veer Marathi’ team — and I have a very instrumental role to play in it. Having a team is a very different ball game. There is lot of work involved.”

After her role in Jaane Tu Na Jaane Na, Genelia has been often referred to as the ‘bubbly girl’. She comments, “I am extremely bubbly and that is something I truly am. I also have a very serious side to me but not many people are aware of that.”
Apart from being an actress, she has also been a model and a TV anchor. Point this out to her and she says, “My experiences in each field have been varied. I have enjoyed all of them.”

Her name is also not something that one hears often. Genelia explains that it is a combination of her parents’ names. “My name is unique. My mother says that it means ‘rare’.” Genelia has proven herself in both Bollywood and South Indian movies.

Ask her how it was working in them, and she says, “I love to do films, whichever language they are in. The language apart, I see Bollywood and South Indian industries as very professional fields.

I can’t specify any particular one as my favourite since I’ve been a part of all of them. I have enjoyed each of them.”

About the city, she has lots to say. “I come to Bangalore quite often. In fact, I’ve been here a lot this year for cricket matches and other appearances. Many major events happen here. Also, Bangalore is a very inviting place and the hub of tech-savvy people.”

Comparing Mumbai to Bangalore, she says that it’s a different deal altogether. “I live in Mumbai, so it’s a different zone for me. I love Bangalore more so because I’m also a Mangalorean. I have family here,” answers Genelia.
