Actress Dipannita Sharma has come a long way since her modelling days. The Assamese bombshell has tried her hand at television, movies and will soon dabble in business as well.
As much as she enjoys each of her roles, Dipannita ensures that she stays connected and is able to justify every one of them. Maybe that’s why she assigns equal time to each one of her passions.
“Juggling roles is inbuilt in women’s DNA. Apart from my professional life, I also have my personal duties as a daughter, sister and a wife,” says Dipannita, who was recently in the City for a fashion show.
When it comes to movies, she was last seen in ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ and Jodi Breakers. When asked if she has deliberately kept away from the big screen, she says, “This is the most back-to-back work that I can do right now. I am married and I want to divide my time equally between my work and family.”
Acting has always been a passion for Dipannita but at the same time she says that opportunities are very few for those who really want to act.
“It’s nice to play a glamourous role but I really want to be part of movies where I get to act as well. It has to be more than just the frills for me,” she adds.
Being an Assamese, it is strange that the actress has never done any regional movies. “I
am always asked why I don’t do any regional cinema. But honestly, I have never been approached for any regional movies. I would love to do something in my language and if there is a good script, then why not?” she says.
Dipannita is even open to Southern movies. Having heard so much about movies down south, Dipannita has also found time to watch a couple of them. “There is so much talent here and it would be great to be a part of a movie here as well. But then again, I want to do something that’s more than just song and dance,” she adds.
Currently, Dipannita is busy working with her husband in a yacht venture. “It’s a very new and exciting phase for us. We are planning an official launch this month and soon will rent out yachts to private parties and functions. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it does good as well,” she signs off.
