Malini Murmu (22) was found hanging in her room on Monday morning. In a death note, purportedly left by her, she had stated that she was hurt and disappointed as her lover cheated her. The body was handed over to the family after a post mortem at Victoria Hospital.

The girl’s father Bishwanath Marnu, an employee with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited at Jamshedpur, in his complaint, has blamed Abhishek (boyfriend) for the death of his daughter. “Malini was forced to end her life as he scolded and abused her,” the complaint said. Police have registered a case under Section 306 IPC (abatement of suicide).
“We are yet to ascertain where Abhishek is staying. He is stated to be residing in Delhi, but there is no confirmation. We have very little information about him and his background. We are getting in touch with Delhi and Jharkhand police in this connection,” said an officer investigating the case. The case is being looked at from all angles. Attempts are being made to ascertain the reason for her death, said DCP (South East) Dr P S Harsha. Malini came to Bangalore six months ago to pursue higher education. She was in first year MBA and was staying in the hostel on the IIM campus on Bannerghatta Road. It is said that she fell in love with Abhishek a few months ago.
