Students of the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) will host a competition called 'Bzzwings' and a start-up funding contest named 'Pitch Perfect'.
The competition, one of the biggest in the country, will be held in July and August. Top 10 start-up teams will be shortlisted from across the country and they would get to present their ideas to a panel of investors and judges who are part of the NSRCEL, an early stage startup incubator. With this competition, the NSRCEL and the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Cell of the IIMB aim to provide opportunities to aspiring entrepreneurs during these challenging times, the IIMB said in a news release.
The winners of Bzzwings would get Rs 5 lakh in cash prizes while the finalist teams would get funding/incubation opportunities at the NSRCEL, the innovation and entrepreneurship hub of the IIMB, and access to the NSRCEL's launchpad programme which is a pre-incubation programme for early-stage ventures, the release said.
The registration process for the event is under process, and teams should apply with their business ideas by July 12 for Round 1, which will be the eliminator. Ten teams shortlisted in Round 1 will receive mentoring sessions for 20 days and go on to pitch their refined B-Plans to a panel of judges to compete for the cash awards.
The final competition will be conducted during Eximius, the IIMB's annual e-summit to be held on August 21 and 22, 2021.
The IIMB will also host Pitcher Perfect, an indigenous version of the TV series 'Shark Tank', which has been designed for early-stage social start-ups to pitch their ideas in front of top-notch investors and raise funding, the release said.
