Sandalwood actor Rakshit Shetty is busy with his projects. This software professional-turned actor feels that an actor shouldn’t allow himself to be stereotyped and should always challenge himself with different roles.

“I’ve been busy with ‘Vastu Prakaara’ and ‘Ricky’. My role in ‘Vastu Prakaara’ has a crooked shade to it. I haven’t played such a role in my career. There’s a lot of manipulation and mind games involved in the movie,” he says. He adds that since it’s a Yograj Bhat film, the dialogue delivery plays a lot of importance.

“The movie is a performance-oriented one. I had got an offer from Yograj Bhat earlier, but since I was busy with another movie then, I couldn’t do the film I am very excited about the project and the movie is almost done,” he says.

His newest project, ‘Ricky’, is a romantic flick, which will see him play the role of the boy-next-door. “Haripriya is starring opposite me in the film. The script takes a turn in the second half and is action-packed. The hero and heroine know each other from childhood and as they grow up, they begin to having feelings for each other. The first-half has a light, romantic feel,” says Rakshit.

This will be his first film with action in it. “It was exciting to do fight sequences. I was very comfortable with the stunts as I learnt karate when I was young and had a black belt in martial art. But like any movie, it’s more about your acting skills,” he says.

He says that he was nervous and wasn’t sure how the action sequences would look on screen but he was impressed by the results.

“After every shot, I did look at the monitor to see the scenes. I did my job and I think it has come out well,” he says.

Rakshit says that he didn’t have to exert himself to fit into the role. “I was quite sure that I would be comfortable doing anything. There were a couple of shots where ropes had to be tied to me and I took time to get adjusted to that but I was fine after that,” he says.

“I would like to try out everything,” says the actor. He says that as a performer, he doesn’t want to be sidelined to a genre.

“This is the reason that after ‘Simple Agi Ondh Love Story’, when I got a lot of offers for romantic films, I didn’t take them up. I wanted to pursue offers where I portrayed characters that were different and pushed me beyond the limits,” he says.
Rakshit, who has also directed a movie he starred in, says that he is still in the learning process.

“Right now, I’m just following my intuition as this excites me more. Maybe, after a few movies, I will be able to plan more. I am just giving my best shot for all the roles that I’m taking up,” he sums up.
