Bengaluru: A rowdy-sheeter who stabbed and grievously injured four people last week in Indiranagar was arrested in Hoskote on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Saturday, officials said.
Police arrested Kadamba, the prime suspect, as well as his father Suresh, elder brother Vishnu and sister Sushmitha, all from Old Binnamangala. The family was arrested for harbouring him and aiding him to evade the police.
“He was moving and hiding in and around the Hoskote area,” a police investigator told DH. “Based on local intelligence and other inputs, our team successfully nabbed him on Saturday.”
On February 8, Kadamba had gone on a stabbing spree and injured Jashwanth P (19), Mahesh Sitapati S (23), Deepak Kumar Varma (24) and Tammaiah (44) — all four residents of Indiranagar — in their neck and jaw region. The incident occurred on around 100 Feet Road between 9.30 pm and 10 pm.
He also attacked Adil (24) around 2.30 pm on February 9 and fled with his Suzuki Access scooter and a Vivo V25 mobile phone. Police subsequently formed four teams to trace Kadamba, who had at point managed to evade the Hoysala patrolmen.
Police sources revealed that Kadamba had fought at home over not being given money for drinking before going on a rampage.
A resident of a slum in Old Binnamangala, Kadamba has six cases against him: one relating to house break-in and theft, two over assault and three relating to robbery. A rowdy sheet was opened on him at the Indiranagar police station in May 2024 and police have in the past initiated preventive actions against him.
"Recently, on good behaviour, a Rs 1 lakh bond procedure was initiated so that he wouldn't create issues,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) D Devaraj had previously said.
