Bengaluru: The Yelahanka police have arrested an inter-state offender and recovered 40 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 30 lakh, solving 29 theft cases across Bengaluru and nearby districts.
The probe began after a Maruti Nagar resident reported his two-wheeler stolen on April 6 and filed a complaint on April 12.
Following the investigation, the police arrested Ravi Naik, 45 alias Sandalwood Ravi — a former sandalwood smuggler — near Bagalur Cross on June 24, seizing a stolen bike from him.
During interrogation, Naik confessed to multiple thefts across Bengaluru city, Bengaluru Rural, and Chikkaballapur. He revealed that 11 vehicles had been sold, while 27 were hidden in Andhra Pradesh, awaiting sale.
Based on this, the police recovered 38 more two-wheelers between June 27 and July 3.
With his arrest, the police solved 29 pending theft cases.
Naik was remanded in police custody for 12 days and produced before the court on July 5, where he was sent to judicial custody. Efforts are underway to trace the owners of the remaining 11 vehicles.
