PES University felicitated international rower, Keerthana T K during its Founder's Day celebration on Wednesday.
"It has been possible for me to grow at an international level only because of the support extended by PES University. Other institutions do not provide such encouragement to sports," said Keerthana.
Keerthana, a second year engineering student from PES University became the first woman from the state to win at an international level. The Karnataka government honoured her with the 'Ekalavya' award recently.
At the event, about 1,500 students also received scholarships. Rahul Kashyap, first rank holder in the GATE exam, and Manoj Dixit, the second rank holder was felicitated with the CNR Road and MR Doreswamy scholarship.
"We have passed the GATE exam with great effort and the scholarship will help us for our further education," said Manoj.
Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmastala, who presided over the programme released a book-'MR Doreswamy-teacher, thinker and achiever'- on M R Doreswamy, founder and vice-chancellor of PES University, at the event.
