Investigation is in progress into the alleged tampering of answer scripts of the recent postgraduate medical exams of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
The scam came to light when the university received a letter sent in the name of a student by name ‘Ullas’.
The letter alleged tampering of answerscripts pertaining to the exams held in April/May 2014.
Following this, RGUHS constituted an inquiry committee and preliminary investigation revealed that there was indeed tampering of answer scripts (restitching) pertaining to one student.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, RGUHS Vice-Chancellor Ravindranath said the results of this exam had already been announced and they have to take action depending on the findings of the committee.
They have constituted a three-member committee, which is still doing the investigation, he said. The committee will look into whether it is only one student’s answerscripts that were restitched or there are several such examples, the vice-chancellor said.

The committee includes three doctors Dr Rajesh Shenoy (senate and syndicate member), Dr M K Ramesh and Dr Kiran who are senate members, the vice-chancellor said.
The letter sent by the student points to the role of a private courier company that was involved in transportation of the scripts.
The committee’s report is expected to be submitted by August 14.
