The IPL is set to resume after being suspended for a week following heightened tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

The premier cricket league will return on Saturday, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Kolkata Knight Riders.

Chandragupta, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), said precautionary measures had been in place for the past one to two weeks, with heightened vigilance across the city.

"We have made elaborate arrangements for the IPL match — not just at the stadium, but also to ensure the players' safety,” Chandragupta said.

On Friday, several policemen were seen inspecting the stadium. As is customary, the Bengaluru canine squad also conducted checks around the venue.

Shekhar H Tekkannavar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), visited the stadium and reviewed the bandobast and other security measures in place.

Given the situation, the police are maintaining vigil at all major locations around the stadium and other spots expected to draw large crowds. More than 1,000 police officers have been deployed for bandobast duty during Saturday’s match.

"Generally, RCB matches attract huge crowds around the stadium, and with it being a weekend game, places like Church Street will also see substantial footfall. So, we are ensuring no area is left unchecked,” a senior officer overseeing the bandobast told DH.
