Critically acclaimed Iranian movies will make their presence felt at Bangalore starting October 18 as a part of three-day Iranian film festival.
Organised by Suchitra Film Society in collaboration with Culture House of Islamic Republic of Iran, Mumbai, the festival will see five movies being showcased. They include — Gold and Copper, Here without Me, Beloved Sky, Child and Angel and Family Bond.
While Child and Angel narrates the story of a girl and her nephew who have lost their family during the Iran-Iraq war, Beloved Sky revolves around Shayan, a young doctor who is afflicted with incurable disease. Noted Film Director, T S Nagabharana will inaugurate the film festival. Admitting to be a huge fan of Iranian Cinema, he told Deccan Herald: I have been closely following Iranian films for the past 20 years. The movies made by Iranian directors have a realistic approach and are laced with effective messages.
Suchitra Film Society President, N Shashidhara said they got a a package of over 15 movies from the Iranian Embassy, earlier.
“We zeroed in on five best movies which will be screened along with English subtitles during the festival. Though Iran is a small country, the movies made by the directors hailing from that place are brilliant in terms of content and visuals,” he said.
“We have previously showcased Iranian films during many of our international film festivals and received an over-whelming response. This time too, we are hoping to getting a positive feedback from our viewers.
