CWWA will provide initial monthly contribution of Rs 500 in their accounts and will also plant saplings in their names. The event was attended by Minister for Women and Child Development P M Narendra Swamy and Yelahanka MLA S R Vishwanath, who distributed the passbooks to 30 couples and parents of 25 babies born last year.  Merely amending laws pertaining to women’s welfare will not help, as the change should come in people’s mindset, said K Arakesh, DIGP, CRPF.

“It will support a girl child, as parents will deposit money in her account every month which will fund her education and give financial security,” said DIGP Arakesh.
