JD(S) candidate Aishwarya B N has won the Binnypet bypoll whose result was announced on Wednesday.

Aishwarya, the daughter of sitting corporator Mahadevamma Nagaraj, who passed away recently, secured 7,188 votes against Srividya Shashikumar of the Congress who managed to get only 5,249 votes and Chamundeshwari G, of the BJP, secured 2,455 votes. As many as 159 people opted for the NOTA option.

The bypoll was held in 37 polling booths on Monday and only 43.54% voters turned up. The poor turnout was attributed to the working day. Workers of both the Congress and the JD(S) clashed with each other on the eve of polling, and a case was registered at the KP Agrahara police station. They accused each other of bribing voters.
