Bengaluru: K-RIDE has requested the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to grant permission for the removal of close to 157 trees in and around Benniganahalli for Corridor 2 of the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project (BSRP).
The trees are to be removed for multiple works, including the construction of a viaduct beyond the Chikkabanawara railway station, a foot overbridge (FOB), and four stations — Chikkabanawara, Shettigere, Mydrahalli, and Yeshwantpur.
Recently, a proposal to cut down 368 trees near the Cantonment Railway Colony in Vasanth Nagar for a project by the Ministry of Railways had drawn citizens’ ire. The BBMP has called for objections to the removal of these trees. The public can send their objections to: The Deputy Conservator of Forests and Tree Officer, BBMP, NR Square, Bengaluru-560002; e-mail: dcfbbmp12@gmail.com. And, The GM, SEMU, K-RIDE, Bengaluru; e-mail: gmsemu@kride.in
Objections are to be submitted within 10 days.
