Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah allocated a special grant of Rs 7,000 crore to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in the state budget for 2025-26, increasing the yearly allocation by Rs 4,000 crore. The government also announced that a new special-purpose vehicle will be established to utilise these grants and implement major developmental works on priority.
"Our government gives priority to basic infrastructure in Bengaluru city, which makes a major contribution to the state’s economy," the CM said during his budget speech.
He also appreciated the BBMP for increasing property tax collection by implementing various reforms and adopting the online e-khata system. The implementation of the new advertisement bylaw is expected to yield further revenue of Rs 750 crore, the chief minister said.

He added that the government has stood as a guarantor for the BBMP for an amount of Rs 19,000 crore for undertaking the North-South and East-West tunnel roads, at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore.
Projects for Bengaluru include:
* A 40.5 km double-decker flyover will be constructed at a cost of Rs 8,916 crore, along with the Namma Metro Phase-3 Project.
* A network of 300 km of additional roads will be constructed at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore utilizing canal buffer zones.
* The arterial and sub-arterial road network in the BBMP area, measuring 460 km, will be developed at a cost of Rs 660 crore.
* Flyovers and grade separators with a total length of 120 km will be built in Bengaluru city.
* A Rs 27,000 crore plan has been prepared to build a 73 km road with assistance from HUDCO Bank by renaming the long-pending Peripheral Ring Road project as the ‘Bengaluru Business Corridor’. "The land acquisition process has begun with separate teams formed for this purpose," the CM said.
