Bengaluru: The Cabinet on Thursday decided to invite global tender for the Rs 17,780-crore tunnel road project in Bengaluru.

Speaking to reporters after Cabinet meeting, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is also the minister for Bengaluru development, said that it had been decided to invite global tender for the tunnel road project. 

“The Cabinet has authorised chief minister to decide whether the project should be executed in hybrid model or other model. Myself and the chief minister will sit and discuss about the technical aspects,” Shivakumar said.

The 16.745-km twin tunnel will run from Esteem Mall Junction in Hebbal up to Silk Board Junction.

Interest benefit

The decided to provide a one-time interest benefit to defaulters who had bought sites in the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).

“Within 120 days, these defaulters can pay whatever they want by making use of this benefit. Overall, Rs 234 crore is involved,” Shivakumar said.

Garbage collection

Shivakumar also pointed out that the court had provided four months to look into the garbage collection issue in Bengaluru. 

“In every (Assembly) constituency, we are giving one package and two packages for bigger constituencies. We are calling for tenders soon for a period of seven years at an estimated cost of Rs 4,791 crore. This will be for garbage collection and transportation.”

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil pointed out that the Mysuru Development Authority Act was being enacted with a few
changes.
