The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the state government to submit a status report on investigations into the cases registered during the strike by various public transport unions last year.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka directed the BMTC to submit a statement of objections indicating the steps initiated.
During the hearing, the counsel for the BMTC said that an original suit against the office bearers of employee’s associations has been filed for recovery of losses worth Rs 2.6 crore suffered due to the strike.

The counsel also informed the court that disciplinary action will also be initiated against the employees.
The court directed the state government to submit the details of the investigation in a sealed envelope. The matter has been posted to June 4.
The PIL is filed by Samarpana, a Bengaluru-based socio-cultural trust.
The petitioner contended that BMTC has suffered a loss of Rs 7.9 crore, including damages to 23 buses, in the strike from December 11 to December 14, 2020. The petition prayed for a direction to recover the amount from various unions and employees of the BMTC and KSRTC.
