Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists protest against revised auto fare

The prostestors demanded the government to revise the minimum auto fare to Rs 20 instead of Rs 17 that had been announced yesterday.

Just as they were about to set thmselves afire, police intervened and resorted to mild caning to disperse them, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division) G Ramesh told PTI.

Five to six police personnel and five KRV activists sustained minor injuries in the melee and were treated as out patients at a private hospital.

Six KRV activists have been arrested in this connection.

Earlier about 200 autodrivers protested against the revised fare.
