Bengaluru: The Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout Open Forum, a collective of site owners in the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA)-developed residential estate, has raised concerns over the lack of proper electricity connections in the layout — almost a decade after the sites were allotted.

The BDA had initially promised an underground network for electricity supply across the layout. However, the forum stated that such infrastructure is still missing on many roads.

"Despite numerous appeals, the electricity supply infrastructure remains inadequate. In the absence of a functional electrical network across all nine blocks, residents are compelled to incur additional costs to connect to Bescom (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company) points located in far-off villages or private layouts via overhead cables," the forum noted.

The forum also pointed out the lack of streetlights and highlighted poor coordination between the BDA and Bescom as a major issue.

"Although five sub-stations were planned for the layout, only one sub-station in Kommaghatta is currently under construction. The incomplete work is causing significant supply issues," the forum added.

The site owners have called for the implementation of a plug-and-play electricity system, the expedited completion of the underground electrical network, and a simplified process for obtaining electricity connections.

The residents hope that the BDA and Bescom will address these long-pending issues promptly to ensure a functional and liveable environment in the layout.
