Bengaluru: The Lokayukta police have arrested two police officers from Bengaluru on bribery allegations, officials said on Tuesday.
The arrested are Shivaji Rao, the inspector of the KG Nagar police station, and sub-inspector Shivanand.
The Lokayukta police said that the two officers had sought a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from Keshava Murthi, who was a suspect in a cheating case registered at the KG Nagar police station on February 2.
Murthi informed the Lokayukta police, who hatched a plan to trap the two officers red-handed.
On Tuesday, when Murthi was handing over Rs 1 lakh to Rao and Shivanand, the Lokayukta police nabbed them. They were subsequently placed under arrest, and the police also recovered the bribe amount. Further investigations are underway.
