Bengaluru: Terminal 2 of Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has become India’s first airport terminal to receive the five-star airport terminal rating from Skytrax, a global benchmark for airport excellence.
With this, T2 joins a select group of airport terminals across the world that have received the highest five-star rating, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) said in a statement.
The airport has also been recognised as the 'Best Regional Airport in India and South Asia'.
According to BIAL, the five-star airport rating is awarded after an in-depth audit of over 800 passenger touchpoints in over 30 categories, including terminal design, cleanliness, security, digital integration, hospitality, inclusivity and sustainability, ensuring an exceptional and seamless travel experience.
The key elements that contributed to this recognition include: T2’s biophilic ‘Terminal in a Garden’ design, DigiYatra’s biometric entry, AI-powered BLR Pulse App, fast-tracked Immigration and Advanced Queue Management, airport sensory room, world’s largest terminal with a platinum LEED pre-certification and ACI Level 5 carbon accreditation, and elevated retail, dining and lounge experiences, the BIAL said.
