A toddler miraculously escaped unhurt sitting on a moving bike alone after the father and mother were knocked off the two-wheeler when their vehicle hit another bike on the busy Tumakuru-Bengaluru NH-4 expressway on Sunday.

A camera mounted inside a car that was moving in the same direction captured the entire accident, the police said. The car owner posted the video on social media, which has gone viral.

Around 3.45 pm, near the Arsinakunte toll booth, the man along with his wife and toddler were heading towards Bengaluru from Kunigal on the bike, the police said. The man was riding in a rash and negligent manner, they added.

Two cars sped one by one without giving enough space for the bike to overtake another slow-moving bike that was in front of their vehicle. His bike then collided with the slow-moving bike that was in the front.

The footage showed the woman pillion rider being flung in the air and falling on the road rolling, and subsequently the rider falling down. However, the bike kept moving, with the toddler holding the bike’s handlebar. The bike kept moving for around 200 to 300 metres amid the moving traffic which included a truck, and then hit the median, following which the child fell on to the grass over the divider unhurt.

By then, passersby rushed towards the child. The rider and his wife were administered first-aid at the Nelamangala government hospital.

Meanwhile, another bike rider Parmesh Guru’s brother Jagadish approached the Nelamangala traffic police and lodged a complaint. The police are investigating further.

Bengaluru Traffic Police tweeted with the video footage:

Death Escapade. Mistakes Highlighted - Speed, no helmets, overtaking from left side & using mobile phones.. Why the baby was supposed to pay the price for your mistakes?

Fortunately, the kid was unhurt and safe.
