Geared towards pre-teens and teens, these camps cover yoga, art and science.
Art and sustainability
En Madtidiya?, an experimental learning platform for children, is organising a five-day immersive camp called ‘Our Planet’. It is open to children aged 9 - 13, and will be held at Bangalore Creative Circus, Yeshwantpur.
A different activity centred around sustainability, entrepreneurship and science is scheduled for each day of the camp. Children will learn about wildlife through film and block printing. “There will also be sessions on plant-based dyes, recycling, water pollution and entrepreneurship,” shares Kruthika Mohan, founder.
April 1 to 5, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, at Bangalore Creative Circus, Yeshwantpur. For details, visit enmadtidiya.com
On stage
Yours Truly Theatre is hosting a theatre workshop for children aged 7 to 11. It will include activities focusing on acting, improv, and storytelling among other topics. “We have a flexible format based on how the kids react to what they’re presented with.
We start by getting the kids comfortable with each other and then move on to collaborative activities,” shares Mohan Raj, senior trainer.
On the last day of the workshop, the kids will stage an informal performance.
The teen edition of the workshop will focus on creativity and self expression. “The older kids use this as an opportunity to talk about important topics like mental health and body shaming,” adds Nandini Rao, co-founder and artistic director.
April 21 to 30, 11 am to 1 pm (for kids) and 2 pm to 4 pm (for teens), at their premises in Indiranagar. For details, visit @yourstuly_theatre on Instagram.
Yoga and nature
Srishti, a five-day outstation camp for children aged 8-14, is being organised next month by Yogi Re. The city-based yoga organisation has been hosting residential yoga camps since 2017.
This year, they are organising camps at two locations —
Chikkamagaluru and Bandipur. The five-day residential programmes will focus on yoga, meditation, treks, nature walks, indoor and outdoor games, and eating healthy.
“The aim of the programme is to teach children the importance of nature. We want to teach kids healthy and holistic practices which they can adopt into their personal lives,” Mukul Chowdhry, founder, tells Metrolife.
