The Higher Education department has sought details from the Karnataka Public Service Commission as to why the graduates from Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) are not eligible for applying for government jobs.

Some applicants have complained that the KPSC has rejected their applications as they have graduated from the KSOU. The reason given is that the University Grants Commission has derecognised the KSOU.

When contacted by this newspaper on Wednesday, Bharat Lal Meena, Principal Secretary, Higher Education department, said that going by the media reports, he had written to the KPSC seeking reasons for the rejection. Similarly, a letter has been written to the UGC too, seeking the status of the university.

Meena said, “The UGC might have raised some objections. But why a government agency like the KPSC should set aside the applications of KSOU graduates? The UGC has assured that the status of the university would be restored if the norms are followed.”
