KSRTC to ply 800 more buses to meet festival rush

The KSRTC will ply more than 800 extra buses between March 22 and 24, to meet the rush during Ugadi festival.

The bus services have been extended to Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shimoga, Hassan, Mangalore, Kundapur, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubli, Dharwad, Bijapur, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Gulbarga, Bellary, Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupati and other places from Kempegowda Bus Station.

Special buses from Mysore Road bus station will be operated towards Mysore, Hunsur, Periyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalnagar and Madikeri.

All premier special buses will be operated from Shanthinagar BMTC bus stand to Madurai, Kumbakonam, Trichy, Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and other places.

The festival service will also include special buses from JP Nagar, Jayanagar 4th Block and 9th Block, Jalahalli Cross, Navarang (Rajajinagar), Malleswaram I8th Cross: Vijayanagar, Ganganagar, Banashankari, Yeswanthpur and Kengeri Satellite Town to Shimoga, Davangere, Tirupati, Mangalore, Kundapur, Sringeri, Horanadu, Kukke Subramanya, Dharmasthala and other places based on the traffic potential.

Special buses for passengers who have advance reservation will be operated from Mysore Road bus station towards HubIi, Dharwad, Belgaum, Bijapur, Gokarna, Sirsi and Karwar and towards Gulbarga, Bellary, Raichur, Hospet, Koppal, Yadgir and Bidar. Buses with no advance reservation will be operated from Kempegowda Bus Station to destinations in north-eastern and north-western parts of the State.

The facility to book computerised reservation tickets in advance for the special buses have been provided.

Reserved passengers should note the place of boarding and time of departure in their reservation ticket. Passengers can book tickets online by logging on to www.ksrtc.in. Booking can be done by also sending SMS to 56767.

Advance reservation of tickets for the special and scheduled buses of KSRTC can be booked through 173 counters in Bangalore City, 14 counters in Mysore and 54 counters in Mangalore and 230 other reservation counters of KSRTC in other parts of the State.

A discount of 5 per cent on the fare will be extended, if four or more passengers book tickets together and a discount of 10 per cent is offered on the return journey ticket if onward and return journey tickets are booked simultaneously.

Advance reservation of tickets for the services can be booked through the booking counters established by KSRTC at important cities of neighbouring states, including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Pondicherry, Maharashtra and Goa. 

The details of the special operations like place and timings of departure have been provided in the computerised advance reservation network and KSRTC website for the information of the public. Besides, special buses will be operated from all taluk bus stands, based on the traffic needs.
