The city received heavy rain on Thursday, night leaving many places inundated and disrupting power supply.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) control room received complaints about two trees being uprooted, one each at Old Airport Road and VV Puram, at 10.40 pm.
Residents of Indiranagar, Koramangala and HAL witnessed power cuts due to rain. A transformer burst on Indiranagar 10th Main, resulting in a long power disruption.
Residents said Bescom officials did not respond to the complaint for a long time.
According to Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNMDC), while Domlur received 56 mm of rainfall, Bommanahalli received 86 mm, South Bangalore received 76 mm, Rajarajeshwari Nagar received 52 mm, Marathahalli 50 mm and Anekal 60 mm of rainfall on Thursday night until 9.45.
“The monsoon trough is extending from Maharashtra to Tamil Nadu and is hitting the interior parts of Karnataka, bringing rainfall,” said Dr G S Srinivasa Reddy, director, KSNMDC.
Rainfall is expected to continue till May 10, according to KSNMDC.
Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bengaluru stated that the city and HAL received trace rainfall till 8.30 pm on Thursday.
