A lecturer of a city-based college drowned in the sea near Pondicherry on Saturday.
A lecturer at St Joseph's PU College, Prashanth Hariharan (25) was on a trip with his colleagues when the accident occurred.
Hariharan is an alumnus of the same college, where he had studied BSc. He completed MSc in Mathematics and joined the college as a lecturer a year ago. He taught the PU students.
"He commanded respect from the students and management alike," said Kiran Jeevan, the victim's colleague. Jeevan said Hariharan was an active member of the wilderness awareness conservation club.
