Lion, panther die at Bannerghatta Park

Twenty-six year old Raja, the lion, was rescued from a circus company in the year 2000. According to post mortem report the lion has succumbed to tuberculosis. The panther Ganesha (15) was ailing for the past one month. All the four limbs of the big cat had suffered paralytic stroke and the animal had stopped consuming food. Glucose was being administered intravenously.

Park authorities said the panther was secured from H D Kote Forest in the year 1996.
A female elephant was found dead near Begur in Gundlupet taluk on Sunday. The pachyderm is said to have been ill for the past 15 days. The carcass was cremated after post mortem.
