Bengaluru: The Karnataka Lokayukta has issued a set of instructions to officials from the BBMP regarding the proper disposal of solid waste.
The directions were issued by Lokayukta Justice BS Patil during a meeting he chaired on Monday.
While the Lokayukta expressed displeasure over the functioning of BBMP officials, he was informed that the strength of engineers would be increased, and tenders had been called for additional garbage trucks.
The Lokayukta directed BBMP officials to ensure that measures are taken to eliminate black spots in the city where garbage accumulates, leading to health hazards and tarnishing the city’s image.
It was also decided to install CCTV cameras to prevent illegal garbage dumping and the creation of black spots in the future. The BBMP was further asked to regulate the movement of garbage vehicles during peak hours as it causes inconvenience to the public.
