The Lokayukta police on Monday registered three more FIRs against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, other public servants and private persons in connection with illegal denotification of lands in the city.

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had issued final notification for creating Banashankari 5th stage layout in 1994, including 2.36 acres of land in survey number 104 in Uttarahalli village. The original owners of survey number 104 filed an application for denotification of the land.

At that time, the BDA had already formed 24 residential sites and also a road in this survey number. The Additional Chief Secretary had brought to the notice of the then chief minister Yeddyurappa that it was not permissible to denotify the land since the possession of the land had already been taken.

However, Yeddyurappa referred to four denotifications made earlier in the same layout during June 2007 and October 2007 by previous chief ministers and ordered denotification in September 2010.

Similarly, for creating Jnanabharathi Layout, final notification for lands in Valagerahalli and Nagadevanahalli was issued in 1994, including for 5.1 acres of land in survey numbers 77/1 and 77/2. The High Court had also upheld this acquisition.

First, the land owner got two acres of land denotified due to the restricted award passed by the BDA and later, he got another 2.08 acres denotified on the ground that it was adjacent to the land denotified earlier.

Third FIR

The third FIR on Monday is about denotification of land acquired for Arkavathy Layout. A total of nine persons, in a joint representation to Yeddyurappa, requested for denotification of 7.35 acres of land in several survey numbers of Rachenahalli village.

Though there was a noting that except 1.3 acres, the remaining lands can be denotified, the then chief minister passed an order without mentioning the survey numbers and extent of land. The officials issued the denotification order for the entire extent of land.
