Lokayukta sleuths today claimed to have unearthed alleged illegal assets worth Rs 1.29 crore during raids conducted at the residences of a city corporator and her relatives.
The raids at the premises of Bruhut Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Corporator from Moodalaplaya N Shanthakumari were conducted following a complaint alleging that she had misused power and amassed wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income, a Lokayukta statement said.
Valuables and property documents including those of five sites in Bangalore, 750 grams of gold worth about Rs 17 lakh , 3 kgs of silver worth about Rs 1.59 lakh and Rs 20 lakh cash, in all worth Rs 1,29,07,000 were found, it said.
The documents also included 17 passbooks of different banks which need to be verified.
In another case in the city, Block Education Officer C Thimmaiah and Education Coordinator N Ramakrishna were arrested yesterday by the lokayukta sleuths while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a school principal for an official favour.
