Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s look-alike stole the limelight at the Press Club here on Thursday. Gurmeet Singh Sethi (65), who resembles Manmohan Singh, had turned up in an attire similar to that of the prime minister, catching everyone’s attention.

Sethi was here to promote his upcoming film ‘The Wedding Gift,’ which is set to release in May. The film, directed and produced by Suhaib Ilyasi, will revolve round the issue of misuse of Section 498 (A) of the Anti Dowry Law.

Addressing the media, Sethi said he was delighted to be in Bangalore for the promotion of his film which espouses the cause of misuse of Section 498 (A).

He knew Manmohan Singh before he became the prime minister as he had campaigned for him during the 1999 mid-term Lok Sabha elections, when Manmohan Singh contested from South Delhi.

Sethi lauded the Prime Minister as an honest and intelligent person but he said he was disappointed that the prime minister has not been able to provide the kind of leadership provided by Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel.

Sethi plays the role of prime minister in the film and he has practised Manmohan Singh’s mannerisms in his speech and demeanour. A retired businessman, this is his first film.
