While the girl's identity remained unclear, the post-mortem report revealed strangulation as the cause of death. The police circulated the girl's picture on social media and YouTube channels.

While the police initially suspected that the blue suitcase was flung out of a moving train because it was found in the proximity of a railway underpass, CCTV footage showed two men arriving in a car near the railway track and discarding the suitcase.

The jurisdictional Suryanagar police subsequently launched a manhunt and trailed the suspects after they discarded the suitcase. Meanwhile, the Bihar police contacted the Surayanagar police, identifying the deceased as a native of Hisua town in Nawada district.

CK Baba, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural, stated that a missing person complaint was filed in Hisua four days before her body was discovered.

Meanwhile, the police identified the car and its owner. The prime suspect was identified as Kumar, in his 40s. The other man was his brother, Mukesh. Both are from Hisua and have been living in Chandapura, according to an another officer close to the investigation.

When the police visited the brothers' house in Chandapura, they found that they had run away. They were later traced to Bihar and arrested.

Police investigations showed that Kumar had lured the girl on the pretext of marriage and brought her to Bengaluru. However, things went downhill after a small quarrel, and Kumar strangled her.

After her death, Mukesh took help from five more people to stuff the body in a suitcase. The police have arrested all seven.
