The victims have been identified as Mohan Reddy, a tailor and resident of Babusapalya and his sons Lohith (12) and Yeshwanth (7). They arein ICU at the Church of South India Hospital.

Mohan Reddy had pledged his first wife Suguna’s gold ornaments to one of his financier friends Prakash and had taken a loan of Rs three lakh.

“He ran into losses and could not recover during last couple of months. After the death of Suguna nearly a year ago due to low blood pressure, he had married Manjula recently. He first made his two sons from Suguna to consume poison, which he also did,” police said.
However, police are still clueless of the constraints that made Mohan to force his two sons to consume poison. “We suspect, his two sons were not close to his second wife Manjula. We are investigating into the matter,” the cops said.

“Condition of all the three was serious when they were brought here. We shifted them to ICU. They are responding well. We can’t say anything about lives at this stage. But, we are hopeful of saving them,” medical staff of Church of South India said.

Many of Reddy’s relatives and second wife were waiting outside the ICU in the first floor of the hospital anxiously. The second wife was seen tensed. They were visibly upset to hear allegations that Manjula ill-treated Reddy’s sons. They refused to speak to about the incident.

It is said that the couple was not good terms and often quarreled. Reddy reportedly found it to difficult to manage trouble in domestic life and economic crisis.
He had expressed that he would put an end to all his problems very soon, said sources in the police department.
