Bengaluru: The Hebbagodi police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly beating to death his two nephews and critically injuring another.
The arrested is Kasim Pasha, the police said, who lived with his elder brother Chand Pasha and his family for the last five years. They was originally from Yadgir district.
Police said Kasim attacked his three nephews — aged eight, six and five — using a metal rod on Saturday afternoon. The two died on the spot, while the third was taken to the hospital and is currently at NIMHANS.
At the time of the incident, Chand, who was a daily wager, had gone to work while his wife, who was a garments worker, was out running some errands.
Police sources said that during questioning, Kasim sounded disoriented and his response as to the motive wasn’t satisfactory. “The suspect was unemployed. The suspect is being interrogated and is claiming that he wasn’t looked after well. All these things, including his mental state, are being verified,” a senior police officer said.
Joint Commissioner of Police (East) Ramesh Banhoth visited the spot and supervised the probe. According to the police, Kasim had recently fled home following a quarrel with Chand and was traced by the family to Tamil Nadu.
