Police have arrested a man who tried to report for work at the KSRTC's head office with a fake appointment letter.
Ashwin Milton Sequeira, 25, from Puttur, Dakshina Kannada, confidently walked into the public transporter's headquarters in Shanthinagar around 4 pm on January 10. He produced the letter which offered him the position of assistant administrative officer, KSRTC. When officials checked the letter, they found it be fake. The seal was dubious and the signatures of the authorities concerned were forged.
Sequeira was then turned over to the KSRTC's vigilance officer. His body search later yielded two more fake letters issued in the name of senior IAS officers of the transport department, recommending suitable jobs for him.
H B Shivaprakash, Deputy Chief Security and Vigilance Officer, KSRTC, has filed a complaint at the jurisdictional Wilson Garden police station. According to police, Sequeira told them that two men — whom he identified as Cyril and Puneeth — took Rs 2 lakh from him to get the appointment letter issued by the transport department.
Police have booked Sequeira, Cyril and Puneeth for cheating and forgery. A manhunt has been launched for Cyril and Puneeth.
