The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Zamsheer, a resident of Hoodi near Whitefield. He ran a garage in the same area, the police added.

Investigations revealed that Zamsheer was driving his wife and their two children to his in-laws' house in DJ Halli on his two-wheeler.

A speeding BMTC bus reportedly struck his scooter, causing all four to fall. The rear wheel of the bus then ran Zamsheer over, causing his death, while his wife suffered a fracture in the right leg. Both children escaped unharmed. Zamsheer was later declared dead in a hospital.

The bus driver has been detained for questioning by the Banaswadi police.
