Bengaluru: A 38-year-old man died after allegedly falling onto the tracks at the Kengeri metro station in southwestern Bengaluru on Friday morning, officials said.
After the incident, trains on the Purple Line were operating only up to Mysuru Road, with services being suspended between Mysuru Road and Challaghatta stations.
Normal services, however, resumed by 9.40 am, according to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
Around 8.15 am, the man — later identified as Shantagoud Police Patil of Devara Hipparagi in Vijayapura district — jumped onto the track moments before an approaching train. Alert security personnel immediately cut off the power supply to the third rail, but the man was found trapped between the track and the train.
With the train movement halted, hundreds of commuters were forced to wait at the station entrance for more than an hour. Metro staff later informed them that services would remain suspended for some time, prompting many to shift to BMTC buses and autorickshaws to reach Mysuru Road and other parts of the city.

The Kengeri police, along with a special team, rushed to the spot, removed the body from the tracks, and shifted it to Rajarajeshwari Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
Traffic on Mysuru Road was also affected following the incident.
According to the BMRCL, police personnel, paramedics and its security teams cleared the body from the tracks.
