The Chamarajpet police on Friday night arrested a man for distributing money to lure people to vote for his wife in the BBMP elections on Saturday.
The arrested has been identified as Shivakumar, husband of Nethravathi contesting as an independent candidate from Chamarajpet ward. The police have recovered Rs 23,000 from him.
The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) team rushed to Ganapathi temple in Azad Nagar where Shivakumar was distributing Rs 1,000 to each family, and arrested him based on a complaint lodged by MCC’s Basavaraj, the police said.
