Bengaluru: Marsur gram panchayat has become the first to achieve the unique distinction of being a completely insured gram panchayat in the state.

This was achieved through a social outreach initiative of Christ University, under the banner of "Suvarna Karnataka Abhiyaan", which was inaugurated in August last year.

Latha Kumari, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the zilla panchayat, will present the award to Marsur gram panchayat on Wednesday. Ramesh (president, Marsur GP) and Murali (PDO, Marsur GP), along with the members, will represent Marsur GP.

Through a country-wide initiative, Christ University is working towards insuring six lakh villages across the country by 2033. The project moves to Jharkhand on March 10.

The team, instrumental in successfully launching and implementing this project, comprises Anil Pinto (registrar), Tomy K Kallarakal (dean, School of Commerce), Biju Toms (director, School of Commerce), Prof Jossy Peter (insurance coordinator), and Jerlin Jose (national coordinator, Suraksha Chakra).
