Bangalorean’s are shocked and saddened by Sachin Tendulkar’s decision to retire from the one-day cricket format.
Many Bangloreans are of the view that the Mumbaikar’s decision is timely, while some feel he should have played for some more time. Several fans hope Sachin, revered as God of Cricket, would continue to entertain the crowds as he will play in test matches. Deccan Herald spoke to a cross-section of society on Sachin’s decision. Here is what they said:
A wise decision
“I think it is a wise decision by the little master as it will pave way for budding players. The decision has come at the right time as he has achieved many glorious things. All of us will miss him in action as we were addicted to seeing him on the ground. Sachin’s absence will surely create a vacuum. We should accept his decision though is it quite disheartening.”

An epitome of purity
Sachin Tendulkar is an epitome of purity. He was pure in his personal life and cricketing career and he was true to himself. The world of cricket would miss him. He is a role model for achievers due to his dedication, commitment, concentration and hard work. Though his decision is timely, the way in which his exit has taken place from the one-day format has hurt us.

A hasty decision
It’s a hasty decision by Sachin and I hope he continues to entertain us in test matches. With his retirement, a stupendous era has come to an end in international cricket. No other player can match his passion and commitment for the game. He will be remembered as an icon in cricketing fraternity and his humane qualities will be remembered for the years to come.

Not in great form
It was the right time for him to retire as he was not in great form and did not show any signs of returning to form. He has made way for youngsters which is good.

A graceful exit
He has exited gracefully. His passion is undying and he can undoubtedly face the new generation of bowlers, but not in every single match like he used to. I must say, it’s a great time for a great player to retire.

Should have done it earlier
It is a very good thing that has happened and I am completely happy about his decision. It would have been better if he had retired earlier and I am sure that after his exit, many young talented players will come to the fore.

He set new standards
Sachin did the right thing announcing retirement from one-day format. He has achieved it all. Every known record is in his name. He has set new standards for the game and it would take another Sachin to cross those standards. He grew with the game and the game grew with him. Now it is the right time to hang his boots and nurture the future team of India.

Waiting to hear it
I was waiting to hear this decision as I personally feel happy by his exit from ODIs. We will get to see a bevy of talented cricketers in ODI matches. It’s an excellent opportunity for the budding cricketers to prove their talent.

Decision owing to pressure
Due to pressure, Sachin Tendular might have retired from one day matches and many cricket fans are disappointed with his decision. If he had quit a bit later, then it would have been really good. It’s sad that we don’t get to see him in ODI matches.

Huge loss for cricket team
It’s certainly a huge loss for the Indian cricket team and also his fans throughout the country. Sachin is a great cricketer and his passion for the sport is inspiring and limitless. I want to wish him all the best for his future ventures and his zest for cricket will always be remembered. His records will motivate youngsters.
