Mayor polls: Six missing corporators return from resort

All the six Independent corporators, who spent the night at Eagleton resort on Thursday, arrived at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) headquarters on Friday morning, to vote for the elections being held on Friday.

Senior Congress leaders Ramalinga Reddy, Munirathna, S T Somashekar were instrumental in bringing the candidates back to Bengaluru.

BJP fielded its candidates for the BBMP mayor polls on Friday, in the last minute. The nomination process was carried out between 8 am and 9.30 am. A total of four candidates are in the fray for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor.

While Jayanagar corporator Gangambike Mallikarjun of the Congress filed her nomination, BJP fielded Shobha Anjanappa for the mayor position.

For the post of deputy mayor, JD(S) fielded Ramila Umashankar and BJP fielded Prathibha Dhanraj (Dattatreya Swami Temple ward).
