Nagaraj escaped soon after the crime but he was arrested on Wednesday and confessed to the crime, police added.
The Rajagopala Nagar police arrested 45-year-old Nagaraja, a mechanic for allegedly killing his sister-in-law over trivial issue. Police said that the deceased Saroja was found dead with her throat slit on Tuesday.
It is learnt that Nagaraja and Saroja had an illicit relationship after Saroja's husband died few years ago.
Nagaraja, an alcoholic, had given Saroja some money. He used to quarrel with her everyday demanding his money back. On Tuesday, he picked up a heated argument with her doubting her fidelity, and slit her throat.
