For most students, their final year at college is one of mixed emotions. Third-year students go through a lot — from ensuring that they do well academically to stringing together different college memories and making plans for the future. As they inch towards their graduation, final-year students from colleges across the City talk to Metrolife about their memories of their time in college.

Monica, from SJR College for Women, shares, “I’m very sad that my college years are coming to an end. My campus has the best ambience and the best teachers, who would drop to our level and be like students with us. They have all been very supportive by giving us opportunities to get maximum exposure.” Monica adds, “It’s going to be a struggle for us once we’re out of college. We will have to look for such chances by ourselves.”

Karthik M, a final-year student of Baldwin Methodist College, says, “I have so many memories attached to college life. Everything that happens to us during college is important, even if we realise it only later. I’m trying to make the most out of the time I have left here.” He adds, “From orientation day till now, I never thought that I would have so many different experiences. I’ve also made a lot of good friends.”
Canteens have always been a favourite part of one’s college life, whether the food is good or bad.

Swathi Siddaraju, from South East Asian College, says, “We have had so much fun at college. My friends and I would just chill at the canteen during weekdays and go for movies every weekend.”

Recollecting other moments, Swathi adds, “I got a chance to showcase my managerial skills with the fashion show that we organised for the seniors’ graduation day. Apart from this, I also got to learn many important lessons of life from my time on campus, like the importance of responsibility.”

For many, college is about having fun and there are many incidents that make them break into a smile. “In the first year, we were scheduled to go to Goa for a college tour, but the trip was delayed by a few hours. We all looted the canteen. We paid for the items when we came back, of course, but we had a lot of fun,” narrates Manasa R, a student of Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women.

She concludes, “We mingled with students from all batches and streams and thus, I have friends from all backgrounds. My favourite spots on campus will always be the canteen and the college quadrangle.”
