It is not just women but men can also cast their votes in the pink polling booths that will be set up across the city, the election commission officers have clarified.

According to Sanjiv Kumar, chief electoral officer, and district election officer and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, men are also allowed to cast their votes in 'sakhi' or pink polling booths.

However, these booths will be monitored only by women polling officers wearing pink sarees. The booth will be designed with pink posters, the officers said.
