The BMRCL may soon increase the frequency of Namma Metro trains to three minutes.
Minister for Bengaluru Development K J George told the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that there was a plan to increase the frequency of Metro trains. He was replying to S Suresh Kumar (BJP) who mentioned that the Delhi Metro operates a train every two minutes.
“The BMRLC authorities are analysing safety aspects to run one train every three minutes. They would take a decision after considering safety aspects,” he said.
George said that the government intends to construct townships in areas that are connected by the Metro service.
“The government has directed BEML to manufacture 150 coaches at a cost of Rs 1,600 crore. Some of these coaches would be added to Metro trains by December,” he added.
George told Shivalinge Gowda (JD-S) that the government would allot one BHK flat to SC&ST community members at 44% concession, while backward community members would get flats at 25% concession. One BHK flat for the SC&ST has been priced at Rs 6.7 lakh, while it is Rs 9 lakh for the economically backward classes and Rs 12 lakh for others.
“Prices of BDA flats have come down after demonetisation. The government has recently cleared encroachments on its lands. There is a proposal to construct houses for drivers, cooks and labourers working in workshops on such lands,” George said.
