Bengaluru: A 25-year-old man, who went missing from Madanayakanahalli in northern Bengaluru on October 19, was found murdered in Kudligi, about 300 km away, a week later.

The Kudligi police arrested six suspects — the victim's friends — in late November.

The victim, Akhilesh, went missing from his Madanayakanahalli home on October 19. Based on a complaint from his friend, the police launched an investigation, but did not get any leads.

On October 25, the Vijayanagar district police found Akhilesh’s body in Kudligi. About a week ago, they arrested six suspects — Roshan, Ganesh, Nagesh, Nanda Kumar, Manu Kumar, and Mohammad Asmaan.

The Madanayakanahalli police have now taken custody of the suspects since the murder occurred in Bengaluru.

A senior officer who oversaw the investigation said that the murder was the result of a fallout of a financial dispute.

Akhilesh had borrowed Rs 3,500 from one of his friends and failed to repay it.

On October 19, the six friends called up Akhilesh and asked him to join them for a drink. While drinking, a fight broke out between them, and the six men beat Akhilesh to death, the police said. They later stuffed his body in a car and took him to Kudligi, where they disposed it of.
